Drum Lessons

Drum Lessons are being offered in the studio located in Tyson's home near Winnipeg and are available for all skill levels and all ages of students. Tyson will assess your skills and goals to create a customized lesson plan to take your playing to the next level. As part of the lesson program, students may record high-quality videos of their playing to share with family and friends and track individual progress.

Lessons will be scheduled on a month-by-month basis and are available in 30 and 60 minute lengths determined by the student's preference and learning ability. The availability of days and times will vary depending on Tyson's touring schedule. Contact Tyson to book now.

Skype Lessons

Want to take lessons but are unable to travel to St. Francois Xavier? Tyson offers drums lessons via Skype from his studio to anywhere you are located. You can work on pad techniques, snare drum and reading techniques and on drum set techniques in exactly the same way as you would if you were with Tyson at the studio. It is a modern approach to drum instruction.

All students must have access to a drumset and a computer/tablet with a webcam. We will be discussing and playing in real time so a strong, high-speed internet connection is required. Headphones or ear buds are recommended.

Students are required to purchase lesson books which they will be studying out of. Tyson will also email PDF exercises to the student to review which are included in the lesson cost. Materials can be shipped to the student’s home or purchased independently based on the student’s preference.

Lesson Pricing

  • 30-Minute Lesson $25.00

  • 60-Minute Lesson $40.00

Lessons must be pre-paid before each month begins via etransfer or cheque.

Testimonials

My son has been taking drum lessons with Tyson for 7 years. Tyson is constantly looking for ways to challenge my son and his growth in ability has been substantial with Tyson's teaching and encouragement. At times we can't make it into the studio and have done Skype lessons and that works quite well. Tyson is very knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging and he is definitely one of the best teachers.

I am 17 years old. I have been taking drums for 9 years now, 7 years with Tyson. He is the best teacher I have had. He has always been able to challenge me and make me better where others could not.

As a ‘baby boomer’ with an interest in learning drums properly, I chose Tyson as my drum teacher and it was the best decision I have made regarding my ability playing drums. He is very patient, encouraging and is a great motivator. Tyson’s talent and competency as a drummer is undeniable and it is very inspiring as a student to learn some of the skills and knowledge he has. It’s never too late to learn to play drums.
